When a creative genius like Steven Klein does a collaboration with one of the most artistic makeup brands, you have no choice but to take notice. Steven Klein for NARS was a collection I simply could not miss out on. Luckily for me, a girlfriend of mine was able to pick up the Despair Cheek palette for me while she was doing a stopover in NYC. Everything else, at the time, had run out. I won’t complain. The first makeup item I ever got my hands on from NARS was their blushes, and I was hooked ever since.
For those unfamiliar with Steven Klein, he is a NYC based photographer who made his mark shooting for campaigns such as Balmain, Chanel, Alexander Wang. He’s even shot for THE Queen of POP, Madonna ! Steven Klein is primarily known for his innovative strengths at transforming his subjects and his collab with NARS was one of the most anticipated makeup collections for 2015.
“Steven is an iconic fashion photographer. His work defies the rules of photography—it’s arresting and provocative. It pushes boundaries and elicits a reaction. I like that. He perfectly embodies the spirit of NARS.” —François Nars, Founder & Creative Director of NARS.
So back to this limited edition palette that I am a proud owner off !
The Steven Klein NARS Despair Blush palette includes three new limited edition shades.
From L to R: Top to Bottom
*SAVAGE – raspberry, coral red (matte)
*FEROCIOUS – cool mauve pink with a pearly sheen
NICO – pale beige highlighter ( permanent range)
*ESOTERIC – golden peach with a pearly sheen
The Despair Cheek Palette also comes with a mini Kabuki Ita contouring brush ???? which is one of my fav brushes ! Personally, I find that most brushes or applicators that come with palettes are so useless, that I end up throwing most of them away almost immediately. I have kept my mini Kabuki Ita brush safe and sound. The quality is just as good as the original size and is perfect for when you’re traveling or for makeup pouches. The rectangular shape of the brush also makes it perfect for creating those really chiseled cheekbones and is a perfect contour brush.
What’s your fav NARS blush ? Let me know if you were able to get a hold of the other holiday pieces for Steven Klein’s NARS collection !
