There’s a thin line you cross when you want your ensemble to look classy, chic yet urban cool. And really it all comes down to how you accessorize your ensemble. During the day, you’ll often catch me in a pair of flats or ‘too cool for school’ sneakers, with my wrists stacked with rings and bracelets. And I’m sure you ladies will agree with me when I say a great handbag and eye-catching shoes will always take your outfit to that next level.

The thing about being a hijabi is that no matter what the season is, you’re always layering your outfits and working around Dubai’s 40Cº heat doesn’t make it easy. Thankfully though, December is starting to get cooler and I can officially bring out my trench jackets without breaking a sweat.

Here, I’ve worked very classic staples to my wardrobe ; a pair of white jeans and a baby blue boyfriend shirt, and accessorized them with contrasting elements. The Pashmina wrap was a gift from one of the bazaars in Istanbul and I broke down the earthy elements with a pair of limited edition gold Puma Sneakers and a mini Navy Patrizia satchel from Nicoletta Parodi aka ParodiNicoletta on social media. I discovered her through a mini exhibition at The Mine in Al Serkal Avenue and instantly fell in love with her collection. Her bags are unique in their textures and form, and I love the fact that it’s not your typical satchel ! It doesn’t matter what I wear, but when I walk around with my mini Navy Patrizia Nicoletta Parodi satchel, I just feel special because I don’t see anything like it on anyone else.

Feeling relaxed and comfy with how you dress shouldn’t translate for looking shabby. A khaki green trench coat is the epitome of classy cool and it’ll always be an item that you can recycle within your wardrobe. After spending so much money on items that were ‘trendy’ and ‘on point’ at a particular time, I’ve instead learnt to pick up pieces that I can reuse regardless of what’s popping 6 months down the line.

Accessories complete an outfit, so whether it’s a chunky Michael KORS watch, a classic pair of Sunnies, or a crystallite necklace, don’t leave the house with bare fingers or wrists. Just remember fashion is all about attention to detail.
