As a self professed beauty addict with a bathroom counter filled with the most sought after skincare products, it’s a no brainer that you still need to visit your favorite spa every now and then to give your skin some much needed pampering and loving. Mine happens to be the Sensasia Spa ! I heard so much about their Bliss facial treatments that I decided to try out the Bliss Instant Radiance Oxygen Facial at their Palm Jumeirah branch. I couldn’t get over how my skin looked after I left the spa.
Before trying out the facial, I did some research on the Bliss Triple Oxygen line, and found a lot of positive responses so I was interested to see how it would work on me. I have one of those freakish bodies that insist on staying dehydrated and dry regardless of the 8 litres of water that I chug down. I am constantly advising my clients to over moisturize their skin especially with Dubai’s heat, and I am no exception to the rule. I have a strict skincare regime. Regardless of my mommy routine, I do take out an extra couple of minutes throughout my day to moisturize my skin at least 3 times a day. So it would be safe to assume that my skin would be sufficiently hydrated. Unfortunately stubbornness runs in my genes and my skin is no exception.
One of the reasons why I love Sensasia Spa is the sense of relaxation you feel as you walk in. I am a regular at the Sensasia Spa branch at the Village Mall in Jumeirah, but it was my first time to try out their services at the Palm Jumeirah. The entrance at the Palm Jumeirah branch was a lot smaller than what I was used to, but as soon as I stepped into my room, that comforting energy of zen was soon felt all over. Zeenab, my lovely therapist, thoroughly investigated all my concerns and what I was looking to achieve at the end of my facial. I expressed that I needed to give my skin some kind of boost as I was so overworked the past month. My skin needed some major SOS as it felt drained and dull.
The Bliss Instant Radiance Oxygen Facial is usually 60 mins in most spas but at Sensasia Spa the treatment goes on for 75 mins as the process of preparing the skin takes a little longer. Zeeneb, used 3 products to throughly cleanse and tone my skin. Once that was done, a soft layer of the Micro Magic microdermabrasion was applied, which gently exfoliates the dead cells. It contains peppermint which made it quite tingly on my skin.
After that, she softened my pores with the pore extraction oxygen cream, and instead of using steam, cling film wrap was used instead. Personally, I’m not a big fan of extractions and I usually give my therapist a heads up to go gentle when she’s extracting any whiteheads or blackheads. The Pore Extraction oxygen cream helps to loosen the pores and the heat from the cling film wrap opens the pores up faster than steaming process. In fact, it made it quite painless and Bliss insists that their products are used without the use of steam machines. Once, the exfoliation and extraction process was done, Zeenab applied the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Eye Mask. The word Instant is correct, because as soon as she applied it, I felt this soothing and cooling sensation around my eye area almost immediately. She also applied a layer of the Instant Energizing Foaming Mask. Since my eyes were closed because of the cotton pads on top, I couldn’t understand what was going on. All I could feel was this foam lather up even upto my nostrils. They had to be cleaned out a few times since at one point, it felt like I was inhaling bubbles. This is one product that I think should definitely be in your bathroom counter particularly if your prone to drier skin tones. The foaming mask brightens, lightens, and tightens the skin with the most active powerful form of Vitamin C available and delivers oxygen to the skin. When the foaming mask lathers and gets extra bubbly, it’s basically a sign of how dehydrated your skin is. And boy oh boy, did I have a shock when I took a quick peek. My foaming mask did not stop lathering up and Zeenab explained that this was a clear example of how dehydrated my skin really was and that it was crucial to increase my application of moisturizers and creams by double !
The foaming mask was left on about 5 to 7 mins, and once it was all removed, came the ever so relaxing facial and hand massage. A concoction of the Energizing Vit C Day Cream, Triple Oxygen Eye Gel and the Key product ‘Ex-glow-sion’ was massaged onto my face and décolletage. I can’t remember how long this went on for because I caught myself snoring a few times. One of the key ingredients of the Ex-Glow-sion Vitabead cream is Vit E, which is an antioxidant. These beads burst on contact with the skin, and in doing so they neutralize free radicals that damage collagen and cause skin dryness. If you’re keen on getting that skin glow, this product is it.
This facial is perfect for brides, Red Carpet events, or for a major pick me up. I left Sensasia spa glowing and radiant. Unlike most facials that tend to leave my face slightly red or dry around the nostrils, my skin felt flawless. My skin felt like I was 25 again, and that’s a huge compliment coming from a 35 year old ! My skin glowed straight for the next 3 days and even skipped on my highlighters because I simply didn’t need them.
